About Stylin' Dogs

Stylin' Dogs is a Geelong locally owned and operated business, established several years ago by Candace Ash, who has previous experience working in pet shops around Geelong. 

Candace completed Certificate II in animal care after deciding to pursue a career as a Veterinary Nurse, a profession she decided wasn't for her, as being a softy at heart, she didn't like the surgery side of veterinary nursing. An animal lover from a young age, Candace wanted to do something in the animal industry and decided to try dog grooming

She then spent several months in Melbourne with a professional dog groomer who has more than 25 years experience in the industry. Here Candace learnt grooming hands on, and picked up as much as she could about dog handling and how to run a business.

Candace has also done a basic grooming course through Gordon TAFE with a Certified Master Groomer at the Furry Tails Salon.

In July 2011 Candace decided to upgrade her trailer because 2 years into having her own business feels dedicated to her career as a dog groomer and dedication to offering her clients the best. The new trailer her clients are being groomed in is a Savel Mobile Pet Salon, Elite model. It is the world's only fully moulded fibreglass trailer and has airconditioning and heating for the comfort of the dogs.

In September 2012 Candace decided to expand her business by opening a salon in Belmont. This decision was due to the high demand of our quality service along with wanting to offer our services from one location along with our mobile service. Candace hired a long time friend Matty who has over 12 years experience in the animal industry working in pet shops, veterinary clinics, reptile demonstrations, avian breeding, boarding kennels plus more!

Candace spent 3 months training Matty one on one every day and Matty now runs the Mobiłe Grooming trailer full time. Candace has a great team of girls helping her in the salon. Amanda has an extensive experience in boarding kennels and animal welfare and joined the team in February 2013. She was hired due to her passion for dogs.

Emilee is currently undertaking a school based traineeship in Certificate 3 in companion animals and does placement at Stylin' Dogs 1 day a week and has shown great animal skills and a passion for grooming and will join the team full time once her traineeship is completed.
Zoe is our youngest team member but has amazing maturity for her age. Her mum was a veterinary nurse for many years and Zoe has definitely inherited natural animal skills and hopes to be a veterinary nurse herself one day.

Our salon is designed to be "cage free". We do have large cages for dogs who like to be alone but generally we keep your pets either in pens or running free in the salon socialising with other dogs. We generally run our appointments by time so your dog only needs to be here as long as it takes for us to groom them however they are certainly welcome to stay all day.

Our salon has heating and cooling for the comfort of your dog (like our grooming trailer does) and has all the highest quality equipment such as electric tables. We strive to make grooming a positive and fun experience for all dogs and never push them beyond their means. Stylin' Dogs take pride in the fact that we all LOVE dogs and enjoy spending time with them. "Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life" Stylin' Dogs also now teaches the 'Basic Dog Grooming' course run through the Gordon TAFE Geelong at our salon in Belmont.
